Intel Releases the Pentium 4

Monday November 20 by staff writer
Intel has just unveiled the newest Intel processor, the Pentium 4. The new processor promises to maximize performance of cutting edge technology and take advantage of web technologies.

The backbone of the Pentium 4 is the Intel Netburst micro architecture. This new technology includes:
Hyper pipelined technology doubles the pipeline depth to 20 stages, significantly increasing processor performance and frequency capability.
A rapid execution engine pushes the processor's Arithmetic Logic Units to twice the core frequency resulting in higher execution throughput and reduced latency of execution.
The 400MHz system bus, the improved Advanced Dynamic Execution, and an improved floating point pushes data efficiently through the pipeline for lifelike video and 3D graphics pushes data efficiently through the pipeline.
Streaming SIMD Extensions 2 extends MMX and SSE technology, and with the addition of 144 new instructions, the Pentium processor gives you the advanced technology to get the most out of today's and tomorrow's Internet experience.

Paul Otellini, executive vice president and general manager, Intel Architecture Group, stated in a press release, "The Pentium 4 processor is designed to give users performance where they can appreciate it most….Whether streaming content, playing interactive games, encoding video and MP3 files, or creating Internet content -- the Pentium 4 processor is designed to meet the needs of today's most demanding computer users."
